NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

NEWBORN SESSION (6-10 DAYS)

As you may know newborns are my favourite subjects to photograph because the opportunity to document a new little person is truly inspiring. The little fingers and toes, the wispy hair, the new skin and the little belly button. My style highlights the beautiful features that define your baby. I combine both my photographic talent and ability to gently handle my newborn subjects to create distinct portraits that will be cherished for a lifetime.

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SESSION? It’s best to schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant! A tentative shoot time will be reserved in my diary based on your due date. The best time to photograph your newborn baby is between 6-10 days of life to get those lovely curled up, tiny baby photos.

IS ONE WEEK TOO SOON FOR IMAGES? Newborns change dramatically in the first 2 weeks of life so in order to capture the true essence of your newborn the first week is ideal, but within the first 6-10 days of life is preferred. Babies older than 2 weeks are more alert and start to loose that curled up newborn freshness so achieving those sleepy images is less likely.

DO I COME TO YOUR STUDIO? No need, my client’s love that I come to you! I will do all the work so you can put your feet up and relax.

SHOULD I BUY A SPECIAL OUTFIT FOR THE SESSION? Most newborns are photographed asleep without clothing. However, I love adding texture to the images with blankets and baskets, some mums even like to buy special newborn hats for the session!

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY SESSION? I will be in contact with you about a week before your shoot to go over final details and suggestions.

HOW MUCH TiME SHOULD I ALLOW FOR MY NEWBORN SHOOT? Shoots are tailored to the individual newborns. The average shoot lasts about 2 hours…however, shoots have lasted up to 3 hours (and longer) depending on the needs of your little one. Plenty of time is allowed for feeding and snuggling, ideally I like to keep the baby asleep the entire time!

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions!
